[:it]il KUMBH MELA è senza dubbio il più grande evento religioso e culturale dell’India e dell’intero pianeta.
Per chi ama l’India e la spiritualità è un evento irrinunciabile. Un’ occasione per ammirare una moltitudine umana che non ha eguali, un turbine di volti e colori, la folla che si getta nelle acque sacre in un’atmosfera permeata da una profonda spiritualità. Dura 55 giorni, occupa un’area di 20 Kmq, si svolge ogni tre anni a rotazione nelle città di Haridwar, Allahabad, Nashik e Ujjain, ogni dodici anni si svolge invece il Maha (grande) Kumbh Mela, che porta ad Allahabad fino a cento milioni di persone.
Il Kumbh Mela è un pellegrinaggio rituale induista, il cui elemento centrale è il bagno purificatorio che permette di espiare tutti i peccati. Naturalmente l’evento è un autentico concentrato di fede e prevede tantissime attività dove la religione è la protagonista assoluta.
Le origini del Kumbh Mela si trovano nel Bhagavata Purana, uno dei testi sacri dell’induismo.
Secondo le ricostruzioni storiche, le prime edizioni dell’evento risalgono al settimo secolo dopo Cristo.
Le date di inizio e fine dell’evento vengono definite sulla base di un preciso calendario astrologico ricavato dai testi sacri dell’induismo.
Il Kumbh Mela prevede un rituale ben preciso. I primi a effettuare il bagno sono i sadhu, seguiti dai guru che vengono portati al fiume dai discepoli su baldacchini coloratissimi. Infine tocca a tutti gli altri pellegrini.
Il Kumbh Mela è un evento straordinario da vivere almeno una volta nella vita.
Nel 2019 Allahabad ospiterà il prossimo Ardh Kumbh, mentre presso Haridwar si volgerà nel 2022.
Haridwar è bagnata dal Gange, fiume sacro per eccellenza. Uno dei momenti più importanti dell’evento è la Peshwai Procession, ovvero la processione dei santoni verso le acque del fiume. Nel corso del Kumbh Mela, oltre al bagno rituale, sono previste discussioni teologiche, celebrazioni, canti devozionali e molto altro, il tutto in puro stile indiano.
